Advantages of a Mortgage Broker versus Direct Lenders...

Mortgage Brokers offer two major advantages.  First, brokers are more likely to find a loan that will meet the specialized needs of borrowers than a single lender.  The market is subdivided into countless "niches" and no one lender offers loans in every niche.  The second big advantage of dealing with a mortgage broker is that brokers are experts at shopping the market.  We are far bettered positioned than consumers to select the best deal available from competing lenders on the day the terms of the loan are "locked". 

Usually, direct lenders will be competitive in one or a few select products and will encourage their sales agents to sell these products to the consumer with minimal flexibility.  Often times bank will not even necessarily be competitive in  rate, but instead, will offer other quick or eaiser approvals for those with high credit ratings to offset their lack of rate competitiveness.  Direct lenders are captive to their own products and will not provide unbiased advice nor selection for fear of losing the loan to another lending institution.
